Club de Mar-Mallorca exhibits a selection of pieces by the British painter on the occasion of the Illes Balears Clàssics regatta, starting today in the bay of Palma with 37 yachts.

Anna Boulton is the chosen artist this year in Club de Mar Mallorca in charge of spreading the maritime culture as part of the social programme in the regatta, which started today in the bay of Palma with 37 yachts.

The participants and visitors will be able to contemplate in Club de Mar's lounge a dozen of paintings where the artist has sought to reflect the intensity of classic sailing through vessels such as Marie, Jethou or Topaz, among others.

"I love regattas as much as I love painting. To paint the sea is a challenge that amuses me and to be able to capture the boats' movements, the lines, the sails... is really satisfactory", says Boulton.

Her work always intends to capture a specific moment: the best angle of the boat while it sails, and that is why the artist has to prepare and work on the details long before composing the painting.

Anna Boulton's exhibition completes a large activity programme scheduled for this 25th edition of the Illes Balears Clàssics Regatta:

FRIDAY 16 AUGUST

OPEN DOORS DAY: 17:30 TO 19:30
Jose Luis Arrom, the Club's managing director has invited the citizens to visit the floating showcase between 17:300 and 19:30.

CONFERENCE 19:30
As an addition of the commemorations of the fifth centenary of the first circumnavigation, 500 years ago this past 10th August, the regatta has scheduled a conference by Carlos Perez-Urruti, Marine Infantry Brigade General and commander of the Army Protection Force, as well as a great expert in the Spanish maritime history.
