They collaborate one more year in the organisation of the Illes Balears Clàssics regatta, held from 14 to 17 August in the Bay of Palma

The insurance group RSA will give support one more year to the Illes Balears Clàssics regatta, a competition for classic and vintage yachts organised by Club de Mar Mallorca that will take place from 14 to 17 August.

The collaboration between RSA and Club de Mar has been materialized this morning through the signature of the agreement.

This signatura had the presence of Borja de la Rosa and José Miguel Cuart, president and vice-president of the nautical entity, respectively; and Jordi Pozo, Senior Marine Underwriter and Hull Portfolio Manager at RSA, who highlighted the visibility this regatta offer for their insurance group.

RSA has an experience of more than a decade in Spain in the nautical sector and they are specialized both in recreational sailing and in the maritime sector.

Pozo also valued positively the fact that RSA becomes this year the host of the traditional Crew Party, one of the most popular events of the regatta.

A CONSOLIDATED REGATTA

A little less than a month and a half until the regatta, the XXV Illes Balears Clàssics has already 31 entries, among which there is Argos (1964), last year's absolute winner; Giraldilla (1963), a former property of D. Juan de Borbón, King Felipe VI's grandfather; The Lady Anne (1909), last winner of the Fifteen-meter Class, or Rowdy (1916), one of the few survivors of the legendary NY40 fleet.

The participants will sail divided into seven categories, depending on their launching date and their rigging: Vintage (yachts launched until 1950), also divided into Gaff (trapezoidal rig) and Bermudan (triangle rig); Classics (launched between 1950 and 1976), Big Boats (classics of more than 23 meters length), 15 Meter Class, Spirit of Tradition and Latin Sail.

Manuel Nadal, Club de Mar's commodore and regatta director, points out that the Illes Balears Clàssics is a fully consolidate regatta in the international circuit and highlights the importance of this year's participation in the commemorative programme in the V centenary of the first world tour. "To honor the memory of sailors like Magellan or Juan Sebastián Elcano is something very connected with the spirit of our regatta, which is very exciting for us"

Club de Mar Mallorca will also host a nautical painting exhition by the British artist Anna Boulton, which will be open for visits for free. Also, and as usual, the club will celebrate an open doors day on Friday 16 August so all those interested in seeing these vessels up close can do so for free. That same day, there will be a conference about the first circumnavigation 500 years ago.
