The Illes Balears Clàssics regatta will celebrate its most colorful edition with the presence of the classics right in front of the social Club buildings.

The XXIII Illes Balears Clàssics Regatta – Vela Clásica Mallorca, to be held in Club de Mar from August 16 to 19, will be a true floating museum in front of the Club's buildings during the competition days. The Club's organisational efforts have made it possible to bring the vessels for the first time in the history of the regatta to the moorings located in the so called pier 1000, in front of the Club's main building.

Club de Mar will turn into a floating exhibition of nautical jewels over its 120 meters of pier full of historic vessels. The privileged spots will go to the four Fifteen-meter Class vessels: Hispania, Tuiga, Mariska and The Lady Anne. They will be accompanied by others such as Marigan, the oldest of all, launched in 1898, or Gipsy, who turns 90 years old this year.

On Friday, August 18, the Club will open its doors so that the citizens of Palma have the chance to meet these classics first hand and know a little bit more about classic sailing walking by the vessels moored at the Club, also visible from Paseo Maritimo.

This regatta's highlights are not only nautical but also social and cultural. On August 18, the Club will celebrate the presentation of the book "Los barcos de Alfonso XIII. Las regatas de una época (1902-1931)" by Luis Touron Figueroa. As usual, the Club will hold a photographis exhibition by Nico Martinez.
