The price-giving ceremony as the finishing touch of the XXIV Illes Balears Clàssics

The prize-giving ceremony served this afternoon as the final touch for the XXIV edition of the Illes Balears Clàssics regatta, organised by Club de Mar-Mallorca. The competition gathered 50 classic and vintage yachts. Borja de la Rosa, the club's president; Joaquín Pita da Veiga, admiral of the Spanish army; Jordi Pozo, representing RSA Group -one of the main sponsors along Autovidal- and the Club's commodore, Manuel Nadal attended this event.

Mercury: a legend reborn in Mallorca

The yacht was built in Dorchester, Massachusetts (USA) in 1938 and restored by the Catalan skipowner Jordi Cabau and the Majorcan mestre d'aixa Mateu Grimalt. She has been chosen as the best representative of classic sailing in the XXIV Illes Balears Clàssics regatta.

The Spanish vessel was leading the 15-meter Class ranking when an incident took place a little distance from the finishing line. Club de Mar'a regatta began with a magnificent day of Embat in the Bay of Palma. The Lady Anne (FI15), Kelpie (Gaff Rig), Cippino II (Bermudan Rig), Argos (Classics) and Orion (RI Classic), first leaders.
